Causeway prohibition
A hurricane wall rose behind the Lancer on the causeway. Salt had stiffened her coat into white plates. She drew a line across the wet concrete. Wind stood up along it.
The truck crossed. She struck its axle, reset her feet, and waited. An older quarantine token was what finally opened the road.
Terms of passage
She gives one warning. Once the boundary is crossed, she strikes what makes movement possible. A wheel is as valid a target as a knee; on water she may choose the rudder or a rope. She examines claimed authority closely. An old obligation can compel her to permit passage. Forgery won't earn lenience.

Signs of its presence
Sea salt forms a straight line across the road. Voices won't carry beyond one marker.
Old permits become damp inside sealed containers.

Field precautions
01
Invoke older authority
Present a valid token or oath belonging to an earlier duty. It can supersede the prohibition she now serves.
02
Bring fresh water
Heavy fresh water dissolves her salt armor and reduces the wind carried along the lance.
Recovered Field Plate

02
Detail studies
Crusted, irregular surfaces bind the weapon and body into one wind-worn vertical shape.
