Field account
The Saltwind Lancer stood alone on the causeway with a hurricane wall rising behind her. Salt had stiffened her coat into white plates, and one line drawn across wet concrete became a wall of wind. She did not pursue the truck that crossed it; she found its axle, reset her feet, and waited. Only an older quarantine token opened the road through the storm.
Observed behavior
A Lancer gives one warning and defines the boundary physically. Crossing prompts a precise strike at whatever enables movement: wheel, knee, rudder, wing, or rope. Old obligations can compel passage. Forged authority is examined without mercy.
Read the environment
The warning arrives before the creature.
Sea salt forms a perfectly straight line across the road.
Wind stops carrying voices beyond one particular marker.
Old permits turn damp even inside sealed containers.
Survival doctrine
Recognize the rule. Break the advantage.
These are field principles, not promises. The Rift punishes anyone who mistakes one successful answer for a permanent law.

Invoke older authority
A valid token or oath from an earlier duty can supersede the prohibition the Lancer currently serves.

Bring fresh water
Heavy fresh water dissolves the salt armor and shortens the wind carried along the lance.
