Information you choose to provide

When you join Nick’s Reader List or request a reader resource, the site receives the details you submit, such as your email address and first name. Those details are used to deliver the requested resource, manage the subscription, and send the reader emails you asked for.

Reader-list information is processed through Mailchimp. It is not sold, rented, or used to make automated decisions about you.

Optional site measurement

NickBlade.com uses Google Analytics with Consent Mode. For visitors in the United States and its territories, anonymous analytics storage is enabled by default and may be turned off at any time. Other and unknown regions begin with analytics storage denied unless the visitor allows it. In that denied state, Google may receive privacy-limited, cookieless page pings without analytics cookies or a persistent browser identifier. An explicit opt-out keeps analytics storage denied, prevents analytics cookies or a persistent browser identifier, and suppresses optional page measurement for that browser.

When you allow measurement cookies, the site may also connect anonymous pages and reader actions within a browser session, such as opening a retailer link or starting a sample. The site does not send your name, email address, search terms, or reading progress with measurement events. Advertising storage, advertising user data, and ad personalization remain disabled in both states.

You can allow or deny optional measurement at any time on the Preferences page.

First-party traffic counts

The site also keeps a limited first-party count of page activity so traffic can be understood even when third-party reporting is incomplete. It records the page path, a referrer hostname rather than a full URL, a broad source and device category, and country code. It never stores URL queries, names, emails, reading progress, or raw IP addresses.

To estimate daily visitors without following a reader over time, the request address and browser type are transformed into a one-way hash that changes every calendar day. Traffic records are retained for no more than 400 days. Obvious automated agents and private authoring routes are excluded, and an explicit measurement opt-out suppresses this counter for that browser.

Cookies and browser storage

Essential first-party cookies remember choices such as spoiler and measurement preferences, help protect resource delivery, and keep a reader-gift invitation from appearing too often. The invitation uses browser storage only to count eligible pages and limit appearances; it does not store your name or email address. Optional analytics storage is used by default only for the supported US regional policy or when you explicitly allow it. Cookieless page pings and the first-party counter do not use analytics storage. You can turn off measurement on the Preferences page or clear cookies and site storage through your browser.

Operational records

The site keeps limited operational records needed to prevent abuse, confirm resource delivery, and understand whether reader journeys are working. Where a stable engagement reference is needed, it is stored as a one-way hash rather than as a raw email address. Hosting and security providers may also process request information needed to deliver and protect the site.

Your choices

Every reader-list email includes an unsubscribe link. You can also reply to a reader-list email to ask about access, correction, or deletion of the information connected with your subscription. Some records may be retained when required for security, legal compliance, or suppression of future mail after you unsubscribe.
