Field account
The throne room had grown inside the sinkhole overnight. Black walls curved like the interior of a rib cage, each bearing a pale tally for something removed from the world. The Sovereign stood above a gullet opening, tall and crowned in fragments that never touched. Its torso was a perfect absence. Looking through it did not reveal the far wall; it revealed less of myself. When it raised one ceremonial hand, every smaller horror bowed. When it lowered the other, the floor compressed into lanes leading toward its hollow center. It offered us titles for surrender. Mara accepted none, so the room tried to erase the space her name occupied. We escaped by crowning the Starfall tooth and declaring appetite sovereign over hierarchy. The contradiction turned its kneeling spawn against the throne long enough for us to climb.
Observed behavior
The Sovereign conquers through recognition. It names ranks, assigns lanes, and offers useful titles that bind recipients into its hierarchy. Refusal provokes erasure; acceptance grants protection while hollowing private identity. It rarely moves quickly because the domain rearranges itself to bring others before the throne. Lesser abyssal entities obey unless presented with a stronger appetite they cannot rank. Personal names, reciprocal relationships, and leaderless cooperation resist its ordering. Attacking the crown scatters authority but expands the hungry torso. Filling the hollow with imposed matter fails; it must be answered with something that cannot be reduced to rank.
