Ash-hopper incident
The gremlin had jammed the belt. It sat grinning inside the ash hopper while the furnace kept running, living cinder brightening across its head.
The pressure release would happen when the workers gathered. It had arranged that too.
Sabotage pattern
It learns a process before it interferes. A person or machine marked with cinder becomes somewhere to send the heat. It works through open vents and timed jams, dropping ash or setting hot decoys to move attention where it wants it.
Silence and a depressurized workshop leave it little to command.

Cool the workshop fully and release its pressure. With no hiding heat or machinery hazards to use, the gremlin is ordinary and visible.

An elegant, unfinished mechanism can hold its attention. It may show you the failure point it meant to exploit.
