Recovered natural history

What witnesses saw.

The field account preserves what witnesses understood before the encounter became doctrine. It is observation, not certainty.

Field account

A red flare crossed three rooftops and every useful object in camp began moving. The Bayline Scavenger Crew arrived by cable, drain, and flooded stairwell at once, wearing road signs and hotel panels as armor. They stole one water filter, returned the wrong bag when they found a child's inhaler inside, and cut the bridge behind them before anyone could decide whether the act was mercy or leverage.

Observed behavior

A Crew approaches along several elevations, removes one essential object, and leaves by a route designed to collapse behind it. They rescue strangers from structural danger, then claim salvage rights over what the rescue leaves behind. Accurate maps, working filters, and honest uncertainty earn respect.

Read the environment

The warning arrives before the creature.

  1. Short neon strips mark intersections between ruined routes.

  2. Utility cable is cut cleanly except for one load-bearing strand.

  3. Chalk flood depths have been updated in handwriting from the same day.

Survival doctrine

Recognize the rule. Break the advantage.

These are field principles, not promises. The Rift punishes anyone who mistakes one successful answer for a permanent law.

01

Invoke shared utility

A working public pump, filter, or emergency line can compel a truce under the Crew's oldest route law.

02

Change the map

Fresh collapse or deliberately altered signage breaks their planned exits and can separate runners across elevations.

Recovered Field Plate

The sketch records its form. The surviving account records what it did.

01

Primary form

A paired, forward-leaning crew silhouette carries a dense arrangement of packs, plates, and scavenged gear.

02

Detail studies

Bent knees and shared visual weight make the figures read as laboring together rather than posing.
